// This album is a collection of musical moments taken from the OST we composed for Contrecourant, a documentary series by Andrea de Georgio, filmed between December 2020 and February 2021 in Mali and Senegal and published in October 2021.
The series tells four stories:
// Elène Coulibaly, a student and dancer at the Conservatory in Bamako (Mali), is the protagonist of the 1st episode, which also stages her choreography as the sun sets in the waters of the Niger River. "Here in Mali, we have all the tools we need to build the Africa we want," says Elène.
// Boubacar Sangaré (aka Bokar), a young freelance journalist, is the protagonist of the 2nd episode shot in Mali. According to Boubacar, the purpose of the modern African intellectual is to produce endogenous knowledge and an original critical thinking.
// Bassirou Wade, an artist-designer in his Dakar (Senegal) studio, creates works of art with a high social impact, by giving new life to waste and recycled materials. Among the sparks of his welding tools, he gives form to his infinite imagination, involving children and other residents of the neighbourhood. "You have to focus on human beings and nature."
// Madj is the protagonist of the 4th and final episode. His family has been fishing since generations, and this man decided to stay in Senegal despite the difficulties lived by small-scale fishing, which is increasingly threatened by the greed of large foreign fishing boats not respecting the laws.
